Available Models
This year, choose from numerous Dodge Dakota Pickup Truck models
including Base, Sport, and SLT offering a four-door Quad Cab, and a new
SXT model with Regular Cab and Club Cab. There is also a high-performance
model - the powerful Dakota R/T.
Interior Features
The Dakota Quad Cab conveniently doubles as a transporter of
passengers and a workhorse ready to haul loads when you need it. The seating
capacity is five passengers, with up to three in the rear. The rear seat
also splits and folds to accommodate both passengers and extra cargo simultaneously.
A pull-out cupholder is located handily under the seat, map pockets are
located on the passenger seatback, and a package shelf provides extra
security for your stuff.
The Quad Cab provide the most diversity in its class, and the Regular
Cab and Club Cab configurations are rated to have the most spacious and
comfortable front seating areas of their kind in class. The Dakota XLT
model includes cloth bucket front seats, carpeting, and air conditioning.
Other Dakota features include an optional HomeLink universal three-channel
home security system and a standard AM/FM stereo with cassette player,
changer controls, and three-band equalizer.
Exterior Features
The Dakota SXT Pickup Truck features eye-catching graphite
metallic painted grille, wheel flares, and front and rear bumper fascias.
It also sports sixteen-inch aluminum alloy wheels with outline white letter
all-season tires. The Quad Cab has convenient four-door entry, the rear
door open a full 90 degrees, and the rear windows roll down all the way
to accommodate longer items.
Performance
The Dodge Dakota offers four tough Magnum engines including
two eight-cylinder engines. The choices start with a 2.5-litre, Magnum
I-4 engine with 120 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. The most popular
Dakota engine is the 3.9-litre, magnum six-cylinder engine which produces
175 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. Next up is a powerful 4.7-litre,
Magnum eight-cylinder engine that cranks out 230 horsepower and 295 lb-ft
of torque. The fourth option is the impressive 5.9-litre, magnum eight-cylinder
engine that produces a stellar 250 horsepower and 345 lb-ft of torque.
Four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmissions are both available
on the 2.5-litre, 3.9-litre, and 5.9-litre engines. The 4.7-litre engine
can be coupled with a special 45RFE transmission that uses a unique dual-ratio
second gear to aid in towing, passing, and grade-change situations.
Safety and Security
The Dodge Dakota Pickup Truck is equipped with anti-lock brakes,
side impact door beams, and brake-shift interlock (on automatic models).
Other safety equipment includes three-point seatbelts and head restraints.
