2006 Ford Excursion
With a tough-looking appearance equally matched by performance, the new
2006 Ford Excursion SUV is poised to cause the competition a lot of grief
this year. This year, it offers a whole new array of colors, plus plenty
of new features and benefits to keep even the most discriminating customers
happy.
Available Models
Arriving on the market this year are two models - the 2006
Ford Excursion XLT and the 2006 Ford Excursion Limited - both able to
conquer heavy-duty demands, and increased towing and cargo requirements.
Three engine sizes are available, each with impressive statistics.
Interior Features
Although the 2006 Ford Excursion is a rugged machine, passengers
are greeted to a spacious and comfortable interior that sports a six-way
power passenger's seat (XLT Limited and Premium), a standard overhead
console, handy cargo net, and a floor console (standard on Limited, optional
on XLT).
The seating capacity is great for those with high demands in that department;
nine adults can be accommodated in the well-appointed cabin. For entertaining
your crowd, you may opt for a six-CD player or rear seat entertainment
system that includes a DVD player and outputs for games and controls -
all available on the XLT Premium and Limited models.
On the Excursion Limited models, an overhead console includes auxiliary
air conditioning controls and other handy amenities. A cargo net is standard.
Exterior Features
The 2006 Ford Excursion Limited makes an impression with bodyside
classing and chrome bumpers; standard chrome steel wheels and platinum
bodyside cladding are sported by the XLT. The roof rack can accommodate
up to 200 lbs of cargo.
Performance
The Excursion's three engines are as follows: 5.4-litre Triton
V8 (2WD models), 6.8-litre Triton V10 engine (standard on 4WD, optional
on 2WD models), and an earth-shaking 6.8-litre Power Stroke turbo diesel
V8 engine (optional on all models). The standard transmission is four-speed
automatic, which enable the vehicle to tow up to 11,000 lbs when equipped
properly. The automatic tow-haul feature adjusts to changes in altitude,
hills, or heavy loads.
The 2WD models feature a Twin I-beam front suspension, while the 4WD
models are equipped with the Monobeam and leaf spring front suspension
for a quiet ride.
Safety and Security
To minimize the effects of a crash with a small vehicle, the
Excursion is built with a BlockerBeam front bumper under ride protection
feature. Inside, each vehicle comes with standards such as a driver depowered
air bag, passenger depowered air bag, three-point seatbelts, child safety
locks, and child seat tethers and anchors. The vehicle is bolstered with
crumple zones and side impact door beams, and a remote keyless entry system
with interior light activator comes as a standard.
