2007 Acura RSX
The entry-level car in the Acura stable is the 2007 Acura RSX. A sporty
2-door coupe, and accessible to many who may not be looking for a more
up-level Acura, this may be a good option for those who are attracted
to cars from Honda's premium division.
Like many of the up-level Acura models, the 2007 Acura RSX offers advanced
features and components, setting a standard for the class, Standard 4-wheel
disc brakes, automatic climate control and a sunroof are examples of this
unusual level of content.
Available Models
The 2007 Acura RSX comes in a base model and an up-level sport version
with a more powerful engine. The RSX Type-S also comes with a couple of
other upgraded elements.
Interior Features
The interior of the base model RSX is, as mentioned above, more generous
than one would expect at this level. Automatic climate control, cruise
control, cloth upholstery on front bucket seats with a lumbar adjustment,
power mirrors, windows, door locks and steering, remote keyless entry,
a tachometer and many other items deck out the interior. The Type-S adds
a premium Bose 6CD audio system.
A Factory Performance Package is also in the works for the NSX. This package
will include along with a number of high-performance components, metallic-look
interior trim and a Factory Performance shift knob.
Exterior Features
The 2007 Acura RSX exterior is sharper than ever this year with a rear
spoiler, an aggressive nose-down, charging bull stance and a deeply bevelled
chin spoiler. Multi-reflector headlights and the signature five-sided
Acura grille and distinctive front fascia set off the performance-oriented
appearance.
Performance
Under the hood of the RSX, a single engine size, 2.0-liter, can provide
one of two levels of power. If you have the base model you will be rewarded
by ample power, with 160-hp and 141 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant is
coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed automatic
and in this incarnation it gets a very respectable 24/33 mpg (city/hwy)
However, a move up to the NSX Type-S allows access to its 200hp (at 7400
rpm) engine. This dynamo is a high-revving rocket that comes with a driver's
favourite close ratio 6-speed manual transmission. With a healthy 142
lb-ft of torque at 6000 rpm, keeping this car up near the red line is
an exciting and adrenalin-rich experience.
Despite the focus on speed and performance, mileage is quite respectable
at 24/31 mpg (city/hwy).
Safety and Security
Safety is one of the areas where Acura offers a lot of bang for the buck.
Although in this case the bang is the sound of one of the four popping
airbags. (Equipped dual front and front side.)
Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are standard on both models while a sport
suspension is equipped on the Type-S.
