2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 (Extended Cab & Crew Cab)

The 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab and crew cab join the regular cab configuration to complete the wide variety of full-size Silverados available in the half-ton weight class. Offering more seating than the regular cab, these two cab sizes are perfect for families who want a full-time pickup truck that can also handle passenger transportation. With their blend of power and interior comfort, the extended cab and crew cab configurations of the 2007 Chevy Silverado do just that.

Available Models
Extended cabs come with rear-hinged back doors, while crew cabs have four full doors. The extended cab offers more bed sizes, with a 6.5-ft. flare-fender Sportside Box, a 6.5-ft. Fleetside Short Box and an 8.1-ft. Fleetside Long Box available. All crew cabs have the Fleetside Short Box. Both cabs come in three model trims: base, LS and LT.

Interior Features
With a rear bench seat, both the extended cab and crew cab can seat up to six passengers. Base models are equipped with air conditioning with dual-zone manual climate control, power steering, tilt steering wheel, vinyl upholstery, AM/FM radio, engine-hour meter, trip computer and a functional cargo-box light. LS models throw in cruise control, AM/FM CD player, carpeting, outside-temperature indicator, compass, overhead console, power windows and door locks and remote keyless entry.

Top-line LT models have extra comfort with the OnStar System, leather upholstery, heated bucket seats and a Bose AM/FM radio with in-dash 6-disc CD changer. Not bad for a pickup. In addition, both LS and LT models offer an optional rear-seat DVD entertainment system.

Exterior Features
Two new exterior colors are available for 2007: Dark Gray Metallic and Arrival Blue. The 2007 Chevy Silverado's front-end has been redesigned, giving it a smooth appearance to compliment the brawn under the hood.

Performance
There are enough engine configurations with the 2007 Silverado 1500 to make your head spin. The extended cab short box offers a 4.3-liter V6 with 200 horsepower. The extended cab long box has a 4.8-liter V8 with 270 horsepower, and the extended cab with a Sportside box comes with a 5.3-liter V8 with 300 horsepower. The crew cab boasts a 6.0-liter V8 with 300 horsepower. 4-speed automatic is the transmission of choice.

As far as engine upgrades go, with the purchase of the LT model, all extended cabs are given the 5.3-liter V8 engine. Without the LT, owners can still upgrade their extended cab engines to the aforementioned 4.8-liter V8 or the 5.3-liter V8.

Safety and Security
The 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 is equipped with standard antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, dual front airbags and daytime running lights. The Quadrasteer four-wheel steering system is another feature available as an option that increases handling to avoid potentially dangerous situations.
