2007 Ford Excursion
The 2007 Ford Excursion is an extremely rugged sport utility vehicle with
vast storage and passenger space on the inside. Addressing customers' desires
for a heavier-duty SUV with enhanced towing and cargo capacity, the 2007
Ford Excursion is quite simply a beast of an SUV. Able to power through
any condition, the 2007 Ford Excursion satisfies both in the work department
and as a family vehicle.
Available Models
The XLT and XLT Premium editions constitute the lower half of the four-model
Excursion lineup. Above them in terms of standard equipment are the Eddie
Bauer and Limited editions. All models come with the standard performance
and ruggedness inherent in the Excursion line, and in no way do the XLT
and XLT Premium hold back on the goods.
Interior Features
With three rows of seating, there is enough room in the 2007 Ford Excursion
for nine people to sit comfortably. Formed with an emphasize on convenience,
the Excursion combines both liftgate and rear cargo door designs into
its Tri-Panel Door System. The door has a separate lift-glass for convenient
small-parcel loading and lightweight twin swing-out composite doors with
no center pillar to impede vision.
A six-disc, in-dash CD player is available on all models. A Rear Seat
Entertainment System, including a DVD player and outputs for games and
headphones, is optional on the XLT Premium.
Exterior Features
A full 7.4 inches longer than its closest competitor, the Chevrolet Suburban,
the Excursion is also 6 inches taller and 2000 lbs. heavier. For XLT editions,
chrome steel wheels and platinum bodyside cladding are standard. In addition,
Red Fire Clearcoat Metallic is a new exterior color choice for 2007.
Performance
Not surprisingly, both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations
are available on the Excursion. With two-wheel drive models, the standard
engine is a powerful 5.4-liter V8 with 255 horsepower at 4500 rpm and
350 lb-ft of torque at 2500 rpm. Four-wheel drive models are equipped
with a 6.8-liter V10 with 310 horsepower at 4250 rpm and 425 lb-ft of
torque at 3250 rpm (optional on two-wheel drive models).
Also available is a 7.3-liter Turbodiesel V8 with 250 horsepower at 2600
rpm and 525 lb-ft of torque at 1600 rpm. However, later in the model year
an improved diesel V8 will be offered. The new, cleaner 6.0-liter Power
Stroke diesel and new five-speed TorqShift automatic transmission will
combine to make a best-in-class 325 horsepower at 3300 rpm and 550 lb-ft
of torque at 2000 rpm. It will offer up to 10 percent better fuel economy
and 20 percent lower emissions.
Safety and Security
The 2007 Ford Excursion offers BlockerBeam front bumper underride protection
for crash compatibility with smaller vehicles. Engineered crumple zones
help dissipate impact forces in a frontal collision. Other features include
dual front airbags and reliable antilock 4-wheel disc brakes.
