2007 GMC Sonoma

Today's 2007 GMC Sonoma has a Regular Cab offering to the Compact Pick-up class that is full of variety in terms of bed length and configuration, and of engine choice. Also offered in the 2007 GMC Sonoma line are the Crew Cab and Extended Cab, not described here because the Regular Cab has plenty to talk about.

Available Models
The 2007 GMC Sonoma is available in SL and SLS trim levels, and has an optional flared-fender Sportside bed with the SLS. This is instead of the flat-sided Fleetside beds. Also available are short or long beds, for example, the longest available is a 7.3ft bed, and it comes with the Increased Capacity Suspension Package. The short bed available for the Sonoma is a 6ft bed.

Interior Features
At the base SL trim-level consumers are offered many great interior details. A tachometer, automatic headlights, variable-intermittent wipers and map lights add functionality to the standard equipment list. Comfort enhancements include air conditioning, cloth upholstery, an AM/FM radio and power steering, topping off the list of features. This trim level can be enhanced with the many available stand-alone options.

SLS trim levels include cruise control, an AM/FM/CD stereo and a tilt leather-wrapped steering wheel. Wide arrays of optional add-ons allow the development of any new Sonoma to reflect the owner's preferences.

Exterior Features
The 2007 GMC Sonoma has a variety of distinctive exterior features, setting them apart from the mob by offering options for a sportier look for those who want it. Available flared-fender Sportside beds combine with front tow hooks or color keyed bumpers at the SLS level. A painted front bumper and rear step bumper adorn the SL trim level. In addition, SLS adds 235/75R15 on/off-road white-letter tires.

Performance
GMC offers two engine choices for the 2WD Sonomas. The standard offering is a 2.2-liter 4-cyl. engine capable of 120 horsepower at 5000rpm and 140lb-ft of torque at 3600rpm. An optional for those who want more power, is a larger engine. This V6 is a 4.3-liter capable of 180 horsepower at 4400rpm and 245lb-ft of torque at 2800rpm.

This engine, with 4-speed automatic transmission gets 17/22 mpg (city/hwy) compared to, at the other end of the Sonoma fuel economy scale, the 2WD 4-cyl. that gets 22/28 mpg using the 5-speed manual transmission option that is available with both choices.

As mentioned before, different suspension systems are also available, depending on the bed length, including the Smooth Ride or Increased Capacity Suspension Systems. However, that is not all that is available mechanically on the Sonoma line, 2-speed transfer case, front tow-hooks and various trailer and hitch options can be selected.

Safety and Security
4-wheel antilock brakes and dual-front airbags are standard for Sonoma, as are daytime running lights.
