2007 Hyundai Elantra GLS
The Elantra is the larger of Hyundai's two subcompact cars, offering
a simple form and giving owners the peace of mind that comes with a dependable
everyday vehicle. At 5-years/60,000-mi. basic and 10/100,000 powertrain,
the Hyundai also provides one of the industry's longest warranties. In
other words, you'll be covered for a long time with the Elantra GLS.
The GLS is the entry-level model in the 2007 Hyundai Elantra lineup.
While it doesn't boast the premium appointments of the uplevel GT trim,
it doesn't neglect the necessities either. This is reflected in the price
tag, which will grab the attention of even the thriftiest people.
Available Models
The 2007 Hyundai Elantra GLS is offered in a sedan body style only.
Interior Features
The 2007 Hyundai Elantra GLS sedan has four doors and seats five. Its
interior is crafted in a modest manner, taking practicality as its primary
goal. With this in mind, the Elantra GLS has easy-to-read instrumentation
and conveniently placed controls.
Though luxury is not an option with the Elantra GLS, there are a nice
number of standard interior features provided. Air conditioning, power
steering, a tilt steering wheel, cloth upholstery, heated power mirrors,
power windows and door locks, an AM/FM/cassette player, a digital clock,
a tachometer, visor mirrors and a rear defogger are all standard. Options
can be purchased in packages or individually.
Exterior Features
The 2007 Hyundai Elantra GLS has 195/60HR15 tires and wheel covers. A
moonroof is one of the exterior options available for 2007.
Performance
One durable engine is enough to power the Elantra lineup. It is a 2.0-liter
4-cylinder model with 135 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 133 lb-ft. of torque
at 4800 rpm. Both 4-speed automatic transmission and 5-speed manual are
available. Automatics have a fuel rating of 24/33 mpg (city/hwy), while
manuals get 25/33 mpg (city/hwy).
The Elantra GLS features front suspension with MacPherson struts and a
stabilizer bar and fully independent multi-link rear suspension. Power-assist
rack-an-pinion steering gives the Elantra GLS the type of handling drivers
will love.
Safety and Security
For safety, the 2007 Hyundai Elantra GLS has dual front airbags, front
side airbags and 4-wheel disc brakes. For security, a theft deterrent
system with an alarm is optional.

2007 Hyundai Elantra Highlights
Joining
the hot-selling Elantra GLS and Elantra GT 5-door for the 2007 model
year is a new 4-door version of the fun-to-drive Elantra GT. The
new Elantra GT 4-door is fitted with the same long list of standard
equipment that has made its 5-door brother such a popular vehicle.
All
Elantra models are powered by Hyundais 135-horsepower DOHC
4-cylinder engine. A five-speed manual transmission is standard
and an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic transmission
is available.
For
this generation, the Hyundai engineers added refinement to an already
impressive package. The Elantra is smoother and quieter than ever
thanks to a front subframe, hydraulic engine mounts, an eight counterweight
crankshaft, a ribbed engine block, a cast-aluminum oil sump and
an integrated intake resonator.
In
addition to being practical and roomy, the Elantra is also comfortable.
The luxurious seats (cloth in GLS, standard leather-seating surfaces
in GT) are larger and more comfortable than the seats in its predecessor.
The
Elantra model has a long history of offering customers both active
and passive safety features. In addition to the driver and passenger
front air bags, side impact airbags are standard as well.
All
Elantra models, like all other Hyundai vehicles sold in the U.S.,
are backed by limited bumper-to-bumper coverage for five-year or
60,000 miles. Hyundai also provides original Elantra owners and
their immediate family with limited powertrain coverage for 10 years
or 100,000 miles.
