2007 Volvo V70

The 2007 Volvo V70 line of wagons combines unparalleled flexibility, longevity, comfort and handling without compromising Volvo's long tradition of quality and advanced safety. A near-luxury segment entry, this full-size wagon is designed for families and individuals who don't want to sacrifice driving pleasure in pursuit of versatility. Instead they want both elements in one model, to have their cake and eat it too. With five versions to choose from the V70 has much to offer those shopping in the near-luxury class.

Available Models
The different V70s are mostly distinguished by their different engines. The three described here are the V70 2.4, the V70 2.4T and V70 2.5T AWD.

The sporty T5 and the ultimate active-lifestyle vehicle, the all-wheel-drive XC70 (AKA the Cross Country), justify a separate overview to properly highlight their many superior characteristics.

Interior Features
The V90 has most of the features available in all models. However, as you rise through the engine grades to more powerful versions, certain luxury content becomes standard that is only optionally available on the lower grades.
The basic level includes air conditioning with dual-zone climate control, cruise control, cloth upholstery, heated power mirrors, power windows, door-locks and steering and much more. Extensive cargo carrying capacity is a standard characteristic on all models with over 70 ft cubic feet available.

An upgrade to the 2.4T adds automatic climate control, 8-way power driver seat and memory settings for the seat and mirrors. The 2.5T AWD model adds heated seats and rain-sensing wipers, components of the Climate package, which is appropriate to the more adventurous purpose of this adverse terrain compatible AWD version.

Exterior Features
The exterior of the V70 wagons include stylish and useful features like a fully integrated rear fog light, alloy wheels and brawny 195/65HR17 tires. Optional add-ons allow the addition of roof rails, front fog lights, a power sunroof, special wheels or metallic paint.

Performance
The different performance levels on the various V70 models start from highly capable and go up from there. The 2.4 is a 5-cylinder with 168 hp at 5900 rpm and 170 lb-ft of torque at 4500. This can be teamed to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission and it can get 21/28 mpg (city/hwy).

Next up is the 2.4T, a turbocharged version of the same 5-cylinder. This boosts the hp up to 197 at 6000 rpm and the torque to 210 at a very low 1800. It only comes with the 5-speed automatic transmission.

Next we have the AWD 2.5T. Also a turbocharged engine and almost the same size, the AWD system requires more power and with this power plant it gets 208 hp at 5000 rpm and 236 lb-ft of torque at 1500 make this the best towing machine of the three. It too has a 5-speed automatic transmission. Both these turbo engines manage to get a respectable 20/27 mpg.
