2008 Chevy Tracker

The 2008 Chevy Tracker has plenty of muscle under its hood. A strong V6 engine pumps out the juice that powers Chevrolet's smallest sport utility vehicle, giving the adventurous model the type of performance thrill-seekers are looking for.

For 2008, Chevrolet discards two-door Tracker models and focuses solely on the four-door breed. While this model shuffling is the primary change for the new season, it doesn't detract from the agility and versatility of the ride.

The 2008 Chevrolet Tracker is offered in three models: base, ZR2 and LT.

Interior Features
The four-door 2008 Chevy Tracker seats five passengers, with enough room in the back for adults. The rear seats can be folded and stowed for up to 44.7 cubic feet of storage space.

Base models still feature a comfortable set of standard features. Air conditioning, a center console, cupholders, an AM/FM/CD player, map lights and a rear defogger are all included.
The LT model throws in such features as cruise control, cloth upholstery, power mirrors, windows and door locks and remote keyless entry.

Exterior Features
On the outside, the LT model has alloy wheels and a more upscale look. ZR2 models are considered the most attitude-heavy of the lot. All 2008 Trackers feature a hydraulic-assist, swing-out tailgate that opens to the side, letting you easily access the rear storage compartment.

Performance
The engine driving all three 2008 Chevrolet Tracker models is a fuel-efficient 2.5-liter V6 with 165 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 162 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm. It is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations are both available. The ZR2 is probably the most rugged of the group, with 8 inches of ground clearance, skid plates and a 4x4 transfer case that offers shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive at speeds up to 60 mph.

All Trackers benefit from a steel ladder-type frame. It is the same frame that is found on bigger Chevy trucks, and it helps to give the smaller Tracker many of the same benefits that arise from structural firmness and stability. The advantages of this solid foundation are particularly evident in off-road adventures as well as in crash test ratings.

Safety and Security
A tough, sturdy compact SUV, the Chevy Tracker is agile enough to avoid collisions and other dangers and solid enough to withstand the severity of big impacts. Some of the standard safety features include power front drum/rear disc brakes, dual front airbags and daytime running lights. Antilock brakes are optional.
