2008 Honda Civic

A car that regularly gets over 200,000 miles fits quite handily under the term durable. A car that is safe, moderately priced and comfortable is quite a nice thing as well. When you put all of this together, you get the 2008 Honda Civic.

The Honda Civic is incredibly popular because of the aforementioned qualities. You really can't find another car on the road that offers the package of the Civic at the value it does. This year, all Civics have revised styling for a more refined look, plus upgraded features.

Available Models
The 2008 Honda Civic is offered in two-coupe and four-door sedan body styles. There are four trims in total: DX, VP, LX and EX.

Interior Features
Sedans and coupes both have enough room to accommodate five passengers. In addition, they offer similar numbers in terms of cargo volume.

In the entry-level position is the DX model. It features a theft-deterrent system, cloth upholstery, front bucket seats, a split folding rear seat, an AM/FM radio and a rear defogger. At the top of the line is the EX model. It offers such things as power mirrors, windows and door locks and a power sunroof.

There are different interior trim kits available as well. A leather-wrapped steering wheel can also be had.

Exterior Features
New 2008 Honda Civics will certainly catch the eye of people accustomed to the old design. All models feature new front and rear bumpers, new headlights and a body-colored grille.

Performance
There are two different inline 4-cylinder engines used by 2008 Honda Civics. All but the top-line EX use a 1.7-liter I4 with 115 horsepower and 110 lb-ft of torque. 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmissions are both offered. The fuel ratings are, as usual, very impressive: 32/38 mpg (city/highway) for manuals, 29/38 mpg for automatics.

The refined 2008 Honda Civic EX model is also equipped with a 1.7-liter I4 engine. However, it produces 127 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. It has a comparable fuel economy-that is, a very good one.

All Civics are front-wheel drive vehicles, and all have a control-link MacPherson strut front suspension system and a reactive-link double wishbone rear suspension. Not performance kings by any stretch of the imagination, Civics prefer to simply last forever.

Safety and Security
The Honda Civic EX models are the only ones to offer standard antilock brakes. All versions have dual front airbags, power steering that lets you slip away from danger and an emergency inside trunk release.

New for the 2008 Honda Civic

Freshened exterior styling - including redesigned front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and front grille - imbuing the Civic with a stronger stance and a bolder, more aggressive, personality

Stereo system receives an upgrade with improved audio speakers
Added enhanced sound dampening materials to the doors to reduce road noise
New Magnesium Metallic exterior color with gray interior
Coupe models add Fiji Blue Pearl exterior color for 2008
A Value Package, based on the DX trim level, adds air conditioning, CD player and center console with armrest and storage on both Coupe and Sedan body styles, resulting in a savings of approximately $500
