2008 Mazda B-Series Truck

One thing you certainly won't have to worry about when shopping through the 2008 Mazda B-Series group of compact pickup trucks is available models. Mazda offers such an array of trims and body styles that your head will spin.

In terms of body styles, there are three offered for 2008. The regular cab is joined by two extended cab models: the Cab Plus and the Cab Plus 4. The extended cab is called a Cab Plus 4 when it is equipped with two rear-hinged rear doors.

A major change for the pickup is the return to the B-Series name for 2008, after it was dropped in favor of the simple title Truck. Inside, B-Series models also get some revised styling.

Available Models
In addition to being offered in base and SE models, there are also two Dual Sport trucks (covered separately). Furthermore, there are three levels of performance with the 2008 Mazda B-Series. This further breaks the lineup into B2300, B3000 and B4000 configurations.

Interior Features
Like most other pickup trucks, the regular cab has a bench seat across the front for three-passenger seating. Two rear jump seats are standard on the Cab Plus 4, optional with the Cab Plus.

The new styling of the 2008 Mazda B-Series includes a revised center dashboard and a new steering wheel. This makes the compact pickup a little better looking, and more enjoyable to drive.

While Mazda B-Series models don't come loaded with standard goods, they don't disappoint. In addition, there's an optional Off-Road Package with B4000 Cab Plus 4 SE models that adds bucket seats, a center console, an AM/FM/CD/MP3 player, an automatic day/night rearview mirror and more.

Exterior Features
Not surprisingly, the Off-Road Package readies the Mazda B-Series truck for the tough stuff. It features side steps, bed-rail caps and 31x10.5R15 white-letter tires.

Performance
B2300 and B3000 models are rear-wheel drive, while B4000s have 4WD. The B2300 uses a 2.3-liter I4. It produces 143 horsepower and 154 lb-ft of torque.

B3000 models are equipped with a 3.0-liter V6. It offers up to 154 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. At the top, B4000s have a strong 4.0-liter V6 with 207 horsepower and 238 lb-ft of torque.

B4000 models also have a raised suspension setting. Their four-wheel drive system must be disengaged on dry pavement but includes low-range gearing. All 2008 Mazda B-Series trucks can be had with 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission.
